Cathy Howatt of Treasures Underfoot is originally from Bristol, New Brunswick.
From a young age Cathy had a creative mind but she began to interact with art more seriously in 2015 when a friend showed her a piece of rock art that she had bought.
From that point on Cathy became infatuated with the medium and soon began to produce her own.
Cathy sources the sea-glass, seashells and stones that she uses in her artwork anywhere she goes, with some coming from as far away as the Caribbean. None of the materials are modified in any way from when she first finds them. To her, it is like doing a puzzle with these shoreline mismatched pieces. Cathy gets her inspiration from the shapes themselves and from people suggesting ideas to her.
Cathy’s art stands out among others due to its unique medium and naturalistic style.
